On the right hand side of the web page, but worth getting more notice. This guy is a windsurfer, but actually knows something about this topic. Quite informative.

As someone in a higher risk group:
Wash hands ✔️
Write will ✔️
wait... what?
Seriously, I know people close to me whom this would literally kill. Quite annoyed by the "it's just the flu" talk.

This article gives the best explanation of why it isn't just the flu.

So.....
the answer is dont go to work.
"After taking into account the differences in population size, the number of flu cases and deaths is more than 40-fold lower in Germany. A significant part of this difference is likely to be due to differences in how often sick people go to work, and thereby continue to spread the infection."

A google search using “influenza vitamin D nih” returns a number of articles with evidence of vitamin D being effective against the flu virus. There has been speculation that “warm weather” might stop the corona virus. Of course, “warm weather” means “more sunshine”, which has been documented to cause seasonal increases in serum levels of vitamin d. Conversely, lower levels of UVB can lead to lower levels of Vitamin D. Some factors that reduce vitamin D from UVB exposure are:
Higher latitude (e.g., Seattle)
Lots of cloudy days (e.g. Seattle)
Staying inside (e.g. nursing home patients)
Being old (old skin doesn't produce as much vitamin D)
Simulating being old (by wearing a wetsuit, using sunscreen, etc.
Taking supplementary vitamin D as a precaution is probably prudent. I take 5000-7000 IU per day, and have avoided the flu for years.

I was thinking this (or in the next few weeks) might be a good time to go. Normally this time of year the place is pretty empty. Perhaps the people in other OBX cities are more welcoming.

We are suppose to go April 4th. Hoping we still can.

CDC has recommended no public gatherings of 50 people or more for 8 weeks. For the sparse crowds currently at lake parks that shouldn't be much of a problem. However, if the weather gets nice and people get "cabin fever" there may an issue.
Update: Just now (330 pm) White House recommends avoiding gatherings of 10 or people, even in your own home. Recommends avoiding bars or restaurants (other than carry out).....No mention of public places like parks, lakes, beaches, etc.....

I think they are scurrying around trying to find leaches and barbers to bleed people.
Fortunately for me I have spent decades perfecting social distancing. I'll see you guys when you come to Galts, MAP, Tidwell, Little Ridge and my new secret spot......

Great news - Windsurf shops are still open and they think Windsport is still a good idea.

btw, Big Winds took the other option, restaurant close - web and delivery but no store hours.
Boy, look at Clearwater Beach, that's probably bubbling with... crap, where were the MidWinters again? Yeah, I drove past those people.
Tell those people on the beach not call Emory or Wellstar if they start to get symptoms:

"Inundating hospitals and doctors’ offices for testing by patients who can be managed at home, we believe, will worsen the impact of COVID-19,” read the statement from Emory Healthcare, Piedmont Healthcare and Wellstar Health System.“The majority of patients can safely recover at home with self-isolation and symptomatic treatment,” the joint statement said."

The majority... so you are saying there's a chance it won't turn out well?

Hatteras will be closing the island for tourists. Spring trips looking less and less likely.
So every county in the US now can close it borders?
