General Information

Last park before Brown's Bridge on the south side of Lake Lanier. The lake below the bridge is considered the "sailable" portion as a) it's more open but, importantly, b) sailboats can't fit under the bridge. Off Brown's Bridge Road just east of the Bridge. Access to some neat island beaches when the lake is down and quiet. Shadowed for all but southerly breezes.

If you are doing a sail up from Buford Dam, this is about as far as you might want to go unless you are really looking for adventure.

Local Tips

Not really a beginner spot given the amount of traffic and surrounding islands that create significant wind shadows if you end up in the wrong place. Fine for intermediates with confidence in their ability to deal with boat wakes and lulls.

Decent parking and picnic areas. Rugged launch.

Wind Shadows

Mind the islands.

Sailing Upwind

The area to the north of the Bridge actually opens up for a NW or N wind but you have to make your way through the narrow neck where the bridge spans the lake.
