More fun and games. (In fairness, most of these guys look pretty powered up. It's not always this bad... Shok ) Interesting how Yackety Sax transcends languages.

Apparently some of these shots look like outtakes from this session. Testing of a new Phantom 5.0 windfoil sail which is getting good reviews.

Re: More FOLI content

A little more background on the second video above. Part of the purpose of the video was to test the Phantom Iris windfoil sail. The other, was to test the board which is a 75 l. modified RRD kiteboard. I've seen another video of them sailing the board and when they uphaul the board, the water goes almost up to the sailor's knees Shok . But, they really like how the board behaves in the air.

So why go through all this? Well, with the Iris, this board with almost 3m less sail keeps up with a regular foilboard with a 7.8 conventional race sail. Interesting experiment

For now we're not going faster, but we're going at the same speed with a lot less canvas ... On the video below, Jean Floch is in RF 81 / SCR 7.8 / F4 "small wing", Matt in KRapida / Iris 5.0 X / Noe-Sword, 2.8m ² and 60 l of difference for a comparable performance!

Super read, Chris.

Quote:
"The big difference now is that the skill required to go windfoiling is minimal," says McIntosh, who first learned to windsurf on Lake Rotorua in 1979. "Eli Liefting [who is a 29er sailor] had done three hours of windsurfing and I sent him out on a normal board and 20 knots of wind and got him foiling after three hours. Normally you need about 10 hours on a windsurfer to get going."

This is huge. A big boost to other sailing classes like the Laser is the ability for a skilled sailor to come into the class and quickly become competitive. This will be a huge boost in places like SF, Miami and other sailing hotbeds. Plus, this was always windsurfing's weakness - the time it took to get to the planing stage which required harness, footstraps; and managing the power.

When you decided you want a different wave and foil over to it

The sucky part of being a sponsored rider: testing boards in rain and 36 degrees. The suckiest part: the board didn't even work well. This JP150 version, "Starship", will not be for sale this year. NSFW (a couple of f-bombs)

This is about how my foiling runs feel like they would look like.

I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but it is pretty cool. Seems like Duotone is getting into the kite wing biz.

Posted already? Pub date was yesterday. Lol This is Atlanta, the backwater of all things wind-related. For example, my Aunt Bessie says two brothers from Ohio are up to shenanigans on the Outer Banks at a place called Catty Hawk (sp?) with a cycle motor attached to a kite.

Seriously, though - bad google translate

This is a series of photos published on Facebook last Sunday evening (see our Facebook post of March 17, 2019) , followed the day after a video camera embedded kitesurfer French Sebastien Garat (see our Facebook post of March 18, 2019) , that definitely tickled our curiosity, until this video made by the Freeride Attitude team , the store located in Fréjus in the Var ...
On the occasion of its international dealer meeting which is currently taking place in Tenerife in the Canaries, the brand Duotone , and in particular the entity Duotone Kiteboarding , has indeed benefited to present this amazing concept answering (a priori) the name of wing foil.If the idea is not new in reference to the experiments of recent years of Tony Logosz, the boss of the brand Slingshot (see our news of November 16, 2015) or the most recent Flash Austin (see our news of 26 March 2018) , not to mention also the developments made in the 80s, it is clear that the idea has since made its way ...
It's Sky Solbach , in charge of development at Duotone Kiteboarding and Fanatic Foil, which works on this concept of wing for several months already, an idea developed at first to optimize the downwind in foil surf but which, over the weeks, was also showneffective up wind!
Halfway between windsurfing and kitesurfing, this concept of wing seems to find all its meaning today in parallel with the advent of foil with a development that is far from being an umpteenth concept since a commercialization of this wing could take place from the month of June 2019!

Believe it or not, I thought of that too. I just thought a.) it would not work and b.) even look more stupider than the usual stuff I do. But then - I'm not Kai Lenny. Everything works for him and he never looks stupid.
