Fascinating video - you can see a lot of the roots of American contemporary music in this video.
Life has a rhythm, it's constantly moving. The word for rhythm ( used by the Malinke tribes ) is FOLI. It is a word that encompasses so much more than drumming, dancing or sound. It's found in every part of daily life. In this film you not only hear and feel rhythm but you see it. It's an extraordinary blend of image and sound that feeds the senses and reminds us all how essential it is.
For you knuckleheads who can't read, here are some good new FOIL videos.
You can tune a fish, but don't try to foil it. 25 knots and then FISH!
Feb foiling in the Gorge. Cool foiling 360.
Seriously, the FOLI video is pretty cool. Watch it if you have the time.

btw, Robby has "upgraded" to a VW microbus. That thing fully restored probably costs more than his pickup truck. Word on the street is that there is going to be a bigger Hover board (143?) for those more gravitationally challenged.
Here's a sort esoteric question about foiling. Is the main appeal the ability to get planing in lower wind, or is it the experience itself of riding quietly above the water? Or is it the avoidance of the chop that you encounter at water level?

Not esoteric at all. Thanks for asking about
Crossfitvapingmy multi-level marketing schemefoiling.Yes.
It's somewhat like comparing snow skiing deep powder vs groomed runs. Sure, you go faster and (often) jump more on hard pack but there's something special about floating down through waist deep powder.
Another aspect is that since you are more wind and trim sensitive than just sitting in the harness on a big sail day on a regular board, there's a lot more sensory feedback like you get reaching on a heavy day.
I'd say chop avoidance isn't a main thing but really handy side effect.
It's fun (for me) to learn something new and this tossed me all the way back to the beginning of a learning curve. The curve certainly isn't as steep and long as the planing/harness one but it does take a few sessions before you are taking longer and longer runs and staying dryer.
[This is for Randy ]
I cannot ever keep up with Webguy on the water, it has became even worse since he started foiling.
Now his travel distance is shorter than mine due to even minor boat chop (9")
Webguy and Foildood will have to go approx 8,163' feet from Vanns to VP and I will have to go 8,489' on a regular board
So they would get there over a football length field ahead of me EVEN if we were traveling the same speed.
Webguy got a couple flights logged yesterday afternoon in ridiculously low wind.
Aww, shucks.
Langdon sent me this. I knew it would intrigue the clever mind of Randy. I also know that all my feeble brain sees are squiggles.
Edit: Unrelated comment: I'd think that the Sailworks foil sail in a 7.5 would make a ripping longboard sail. Light, cambered, tight-leached.
Perhaps this will help you Webster. I got this in 3rd Grade Honors Calculus class. (Well, actually, it was my cheat sheet in my remedial Algebra class.)

Randy. Sumbitch, I might have actually passed a couple of classes armed with this knowledge. That's brilliant. Instead, I failed and entered the world of high finance.
Apparently, the learning curve summit got moved while I wasn't looking. Warning: Loud beach sounds. Play this at work and your co-workers will think you are watching tsunami videos
Wow
OMFG If you have a big monitor, you must play this full screen. If you are watching this on a phone, I weep for you. Watched four or five times. Interesting that Amado is on a Starboard foil and his sail is a 2 cam rec sail. I've got to hit the gym so I can pump on a plane like him.
STUNNING!
You guys should shoot some videos of yourselfs foiling at the Lake. Any world class pro worth his salt can foil in a tropical island in 3 foot deep water in the tradewinds. That stuff's boring. We need to see you guys out there in real winds at a real lake.

Dunno, webguy tried that foiling in 3 feet of warm water thing in Florida. Not boring at all. Boring requires three and a half feet of water.

Foildood has footage!
Good point. I''ve had a few of those "not boring" shallow water sessions myself. Ended up having really boring time for the subsequent month of so, but did learn some new leg exercises.

From the Book of Faces: Foildood on wing. Taken last weekend.
Any good?

Got the same email. In a word, hmmmmm... Why in the world didn't they just charge another $50-100 and put a deep tuttle head on it? It looks like a good deal if a) you pay $200 for the adapter to put it on any board other than the Naish Hover or b) put two A boxes on your board. It's really a $950 foil which is in the same neighborhood as Slingshot, Naish and Starboard Alu. The NP pinkie is also $750ish but a smaller wing which needs a bit more wind. Word is that they are coming out with bigger wings for both the NP alu foils.
I couldn't figure out what parts were alloy and what parts carbon, but I didn't look that close. Good point on the need for extra parts. I'd put it down as sneaky.

Wingy things are "carbon" probably like a lower line mast - lots of glass, too, I suspect to keep the price point down. The painted finish makes me think that.
I was wondering when these would start popping up (possible OEM): https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Melors-SUP-Foil-And-Kiteboard-Windsurfing_60723846645.html
This one looks similar but there are a ton of different manufacturers offering various versions. Just search for kite hydrofoil or windsurfing hydrofoil.
Here is another alternative. Seems like it is for kitesurf, sup or boat towing though.
