This evening's forecast shows East wind tomorrow morning through 1PM with only a slight chance of light rain. I can launch at either Van Pugh, or Vanns. Please post if you can go and site you prefer.

Vast majority of new players quit but the remaining 10% buy a bunch of gear
“Going back to the research, 45 per cent of the guitars that we sold every year went to new players; 90 per cent abandoned the instrument in the first year, so, as an industry, we don’t have a problem attracting new entrants, we have a member retention issue.
"So we did the math. The 10 per cent of the salmon that make it through the dam have a lifetime value of $10,000 [each]. They buy five to seven guitars, they buy multiple amps, they drive the hardware side of the business.
My thanks to Chris Voith who introduced me to this great documentary made a few years back about the Bonaire Boys and how they took the windsurfing world by storm by pushing the level of freestyle windsurfing to a new level. It traces the rise of the sport in Bonaire and how mentors took these kids who came from a pretty challenging backgrounds under their wing. Brothers Tonky and Taty Frans plus cousin, Kiri Thode, took their passion, energy and skills from their small almost backwater home to the world stage and became world champions.

Pretty on the nose at times
Hy,
I am just passing by here : I am from France, and for professional reason I have to spend a while in Atlanta, which will include three days off any duty, from 27 to 29 November. This happens once in a while with my professional occupation though rarely that long.
Every time I have some off duty time I am looking for some way of sailing, but Georgia ? November ?
For those of us who've been in the game a bit (or longer) what are the three things we'd wish we'd known starting out? Wingers and kiters are welcome to chime in, too.
Still in the box, never used FT325 Sevylor

Brief report because we are all wiped - Day One was slalom which turned out to be a heck of a lot of fun. Chris V., Steve C. and I signed up. I only did it because of peer pressure from the other two but I'm glad I did it. The forecast was for a building and warm SW wind 10-20+. The almost 60 racers were split into three flights. We were to have three fleets do a series of three qualification races which would split everyone into Gold, Silver and Bronze. Chris and I used the morning to try to remember how to sail a finned board.
The Fx calls for warm west wind. I plan to sail at Van Pugh tomorrow afternoon. Please post if you can go.
Now that I ride dirt bikes more than windsurfing I find we all have our different sport dangers to deal with
Lately I've been thinking that using Foil Drive to facilitate wing foil should be recorded (or reported) with an asterisk. (Like the home run records during the steroid era should be marked.) However I now find it is becoming more respectable. For example.
"Antoine Albeau sets new nautical mile record at 44.12 knots"
He did this back in June but it's now officially ratified (post title changed to be more clear)

Interesting that he's faster by 2 kts than the kite record
"The WSSRC also ratified a new kite world record.
At a beach in Australia
Choice tongue-in-cheek comment accompanying pic: This is actually the kiddy beach in Australia. It gives the kids a chance to develop their immunity to various venoms and learn animal combat while they're young.
$19 per year special. $30 regular. Just wondering if anyone subscribes, and your experience with it. My impression of Windy in general is that it's not all that. Better than Iwindsurf, but on the "day of" I normally go with NWS. Perhaps to my detriment.

Got up and flying behind the boat a few times this week while down in FL on my wingfoil kit.
I guess I should have worn a wetsuit.. ended up kicking my rear stab right above my bootie and getting 5 stitches. Oh well, back at it in 2-3 weeks
I'll be at VP in the afternoon. Family stuff this weekend, though.
Those who participated in the Fall Classic, it's debrief time. This is the opportunity for thinking about what we as racers did well, didn't do well and what we can do next time to improve our skill level. It is not so much what you did vs others (ie placings) as what you did vs your own current and future potential. Racing in my mind is a lot like an obstacle course - as your skills progress, you can more easily overcome obstacles like gusts, choppy water (especially in transitions) and being where you want to be when you want (ie starts).
Free to good home, three boards.
Call me at 770-740-0042 for more info.
Scott Spreen.
Well, now you can feel slower. Nico G just hit over 42 kts max

Maybe another weekend front and replay of last weekend. Current forecast is for 12-25 on Saturday and 10-18 on Sunday. Both NW days so expect some gusts. Lows dropping into the 40s though so enjoy the warmish water while it lasts - a good time to practice jibes, etc while you still can without big penalties.
My daughter went out with a GoPro camera on the nose of her board this morning and came back with these photos.
