Windsurfer vs Cowboy?

In the Atlanta Journal's Living section (wed 9/29), they have color picrtures of Kerry windsurfing and Bush waving a coyboy hat. So I thought this was going to be an easy choice. Then I noticed Kerry's sail was touching his boom, and his board was not very flat. Then I read the caption that "he fancies form-fitting windsurfing or bicycle pants." So I guess I'll have to watch the debates on TV (Thursday, 9:00).

Well done, Gene. The quickest way to kill a forum is to post political sentiments but you seem to have danced gingerly around this one.

I really hate to be a spoil sport but I'm serious that political posts are extremely subject to getting zapped. It tends to bring out the worst in folks and pretty soon you have the edges of the spectrum screaming their heads off and the middle just shaking theirs. Gene did a nice job of mentioning things without introducing any heavy undertones. Express your opinion in Nov, there are choices to be made, the candidates aren't just rewarmed versions of each other. But please don't try to persuade anyone on these forums, it just isn't the place.

And, um, Gene, that "sail touching the boom thing", when one sails with an adj outhaul, it's not that unusual when tuning for power. Other than that [must bite tongue, must bite tongue, must bite tongue...]

Actually the key phrase in my post was "watch the debates on TV (Thursday, 9:00)". For some reason, this election seems alot more important to me, (yes I have been known to vote for Ross Perot), so, try to get past all the sound bites and vote informed, and try not to cancel out my vote.

And yes I know the debates on the same time as WWE Wressling but that's why they came up with VCRs.

BUT Seriouly folks, Gene's Consignment Shop does not carry Form-Fitting Windsurfing pants, so if you fancy them, call Tim or Chuck.

I have submitted some questions for the debates on Thursday. I want to know where each candidates stands on the following issues:

1. Cams vs. no cams
2. Wide vs. skinny boards.
3. Longboards or fatboards best for begginners.
4. Kiting vs. windsurfing.

Should be pretty telling.

Also - honesty test. My final question:

You are out sailing on a 10 m sail and you find the wind picks up. At what windspeed do you rig down to your 9.0

a. 25 kts
b. 20 kts
c. 18 kts
d. I don't rig down. When I've rigged a sail thats it.

Randy,
From the commander-in-chief, I'd expect the following: e. I don't rig down to the 9.0 because as leader of the free world, I don't need a sail that stinkin' small.
