Wind this weekend?

Some of the more reliable models seem to be calling for some wind in the pm on Sat and Sunday. May be along with t-storms, but maybe we'll get lucky. I'll probably go to 2 mile or Sunrise (sat or sun, maybe not both) if it looks like its going to pan out and come from the sw.

BTW - did any one ever try Shady Grove?

Well, now the forecasts have been downgraded, so we may be out of luck.
(Did I really see those 13 kt numbers, or did I dream it?)

I may go up around noon to Sunrise. The breeze is stirring a bit already. Usually in the summer the wind window is kind of small- around 1-4:30 pm or so. We'll see if it works today.

I'm packed to go to Old 41. Got to get there before the parking lots get full...

I went to Two Mile. Arrived at 10. At first it was almost too much wind for my 9.6, but it did drop down to where it was pretty comfortable. I could plane in the gusts, which were pretty frequent (say better than half the time) till about noon. It droppped off, and I went home. As the morning went on the boat chop picked up quite a bit. There was really plenty of widn to plane, but it did take some work to get planning (lots of pumping) because of all the chop. Once planning it was not hard to keep going. Best day in a long time.

BTW - it seemed fairly windy on the way back and I was worrying I left too early, but I hit a really bad t-storm on GA 400 (couldn't see 30 feet in front of me). So maybe I left at the right time, after all.

Lots of chop, boat traffic, moderate wind and some gusts at Old 41. Started at 10:50 and ended at 12:30 correctly anticipating a thunderstorm. Saw Chris P. driving toward Old 41 as I was heading back to I-75. I wonder if he had a chance to get out on the water in between storms... We all have to be super careful not to become lightening rods.

What is amazing is how fast the t-storms can come up. It was pretty nice and sunny, with nothing threatening when I left the lake today. By the time I was half way home (less than 10-15 miles, or 20-30 minutes), it was really raining hard, with lightening, etc. Guess its a good idea to keep an eye on the sky, and not get to far from shore.

After the T-storm and another near miss, it turned out to be a very nice afternoon for superlight sailing at Old 41 although the PWC traffic was nuts.
