Alan, Marcel, Gene, Chris P., and I windsurfed at Van Pugh this afternoon. Yes, at 41F with 25 kts of wind it was COLD! At first the wind was really up and down, then from 3-4PM it became reasonably steady and I ended up having a fun time. We all rigged in the 5 meter range. I sailed my 84 liter board with the NW wind blowing onto the beach.
The question came up about how cold the water is compared to past years. Today, the water at the dam is reported to be 47F. Last year it was 49F. Jan. 30th of 2007 the water temp. was 46F. I keep a record of the temperature on the days I sail.
Randy, how was it at Tidwell?

Actually, I went to Galts. It was a very typical Galts winter day. Can you say GUSTY? I'd guess 20 mph between the peaks and lulls. 0-20; 5-25, you get the picture) But, it was still a fun day, and didn't seem that cold to me. Glad I went. Despite it all, I only visited the water once, which was the plan. But after only an hour or so, I was probaly as tired as I'd normally be in 2 hours.
