We had a good time this afternoon sailing 7.0 - 7.5 meter sails. There was way more wind on the water than reported. It was sunny & with 63F water & therefore didn't feel cold. I used a 130 liter board to get through the wind shadow near shore.
Sounds like you guys had a great day. BTW - you mentioned using the 130 liter board to clear the wind shadow. Is it just me, or does it seem that now that the lake is so full, that's a bigger problem than before?

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
I agree. With the Lake being so full, water extends much farther into the cove where we launch at Van Pugh. With the sand beach now underwater, you can't walk your board out to the wind line when the wind is westerly. On the other hand, once out on the open water, numerous areas of exposed bottom that previously blocked the wind are now submerged, leading to less gusty conditions.
I agree. I think overall, we are better off with more water, since we are higher up = longer fetches, closer to the wind etc. (Some liked it better before, since we lost a lot of the boats). But, getting out is getting tough. The other problem is that while the remodeling was nice where it added out own little boat ramp, we no longer have the small launch to the east where we used to walk out from. Now, you can still go to the swimming beach and walk out a ways from their.
