Where should i go?

Hi guys and girls. I'm having a dilemma and hoping that you can help point me to the right direction.
I'm trying to decide where to go this long weekend. Basically it comes down to 2 choices, Hatteras or Florida. I'm not too familiar with these places since i've never sailed there. I'm not a total newb, but not good either. Of course any place that's beginner friendly would be great. So which one is better for me? It would be really helpful if there are shops around for rentals and stuff. I have my own stuff, but need to hook up with Gene first before i depart.
I just wanna have a few days of fun, and hopefully will learn a thing or two. Please advice..

A place to consider is St. Augustine in FL. In the park there is a shop called "Windsurfing St. Augustine". Its a great place for a begginer to sail, and you can rent gear from them, or bring your own.

i think hatteras is out of the question for me. the cheapest place to stay i can find is about $180 a night for a motel room. well, i guess i'll just stay here and hope for the best.

Tay,

Hatteras has public camping grounds with water, toilets, etc. for a small fee, if you're willing to do that. I know of many persons who do that, and love it. Do a google.com search and I'm sure you can find out more.

Tay,
Unless you are a glutton for punishment, Hatteras is way too far (11 hrs each way).

Atlantic Coast has better chance of thermals - Jax (depending upon the tides), St Augustine, Charleston are all good. If the forecast is good, Cape San Blas, Pensacola and Panama City are all good and shallow, too.

I love Hatteras this time of year but that'd be one heck of a drive.

thank you guys for your reply. i changed my plan at the very last minute, ended up not doing any windsurfing at all. lol, me and a bunch of buddies just flew up to foxwood and put in about 40 hours of poker in like 2.5 days.
maybe i'll be able to taste to ocean soon in the future.
Thanks.
