Week of Juneteenth

Lots of dots this week but lots of rain, too. Weather map seems to be showing a low pressure over the southeast US (if anyone has a better grasp on the pic, chime in). There will be opportunities but it will be important to keep an eye on the radar. Also, mind the electric stuff. At a million volts, everything conducts and getting caught on the water when it goes electric is not fun at all.

Re: Week of Juneteenth

Stuff I needed to get done kept me off the water mid-day but Chris and I sailed on a keelboat in the Wed night races and there was plenty of wind out there. Gilmer reported lots of gusts in the mid 20s.
As we headed out to the race course, we could see a couple of kites at Vanns. Scott Spreen had a nice VP wingfoil session earlier in the day on a 6.4 and reported he had the lake mostly to himself.
Langdon seemed happy with the day, too. In his understated manner: "Well... that turned out pretty good."
Rain held off until dark which was surprising given the radar earlier in the day. I expected we'd get some of the harder rain spinning up from the east side of Atlanta but we just got mostly wind.

Re: Week of Juneteenth

Good turnout at Vanns for a cloudy 2nd shift.

3 kiters
Kai was wingfoiling
And me windfoiling 5.2m ( could have been on 4.4m)

The channel was solid. The wind closer to Vanns and opposite side, LLSC was a little more docile.

I may be wrong but it felt like some of the gusts in the channel may have been close to 30mph.
I was almost completely sheeted out on many occasions

It was fun watching the sailboats.

It was a lot of fun being on one. Except for one boat that briefly ended up on an island. Not sure the cause.

Gilmer reported one or two 30 mph gusts and a lot in the mid 20s. Definitely much windier in the channel. As we neared the top mark in front of the LLSC clubhouse we were woefully underpowered.
