Week 3 Outer Banks Report from Nags Head

William's post captures the scene here. We've had classic OBX conditions. Week 3 we had good wind for 6 out of 7 days. Saturday the 2 week long Nor'easter was still blowing & I sailed a 5.2 meter with an 84 liter board, followed by 6.0 m & 100 liter board on Sunday. Monday the wind clocked around and we rode bikes or headed to the ocean beach. Tuesday - Friday, the wind shifted to the Southwest and every day I sailed my 7.0.

The welcome change last week was switching from a 3-2 full wetsuit to a shorty. By Thursday the water warmed to a comfy 78F and no wetsuit was needed.

Mel & Alice had to leave early, so for the first half of the week there are only four of us at the house, until Al & Suzanne arrive on Thursday.

I forgot to mention that a bunch of local kiters showed up to take advantage of our favorable site during the SW wind. They parked at the Village Pier about a hundred yards away and walked down the beach to launch next door. They were friendly and kept a wide distance from the windsurfers.
