Wed. April, 25th - Warm NW Wind

I plan to sail later this afternoon at Van Pugh. I'm aiming to arrive 3-3:30PM. Please post if you can go.

Four amigos plus a visitor from up the road. Jim C, Barrett, Chris P and I took Van Pugh duty. 6.5, 5.8, 8.5 and 5.2 (foil) respectively. A bit puffy but it's getting warm out. I frequently took "jibe" breaks in the water. Unfortunately for me, Barrett kept confusing my failed jibes as jibe buoys. He's not doing much for my self-esteem.

The visitor, Chris V, foiled over from LLSC on his 8.0 Shok . It was fun watching him figure out if there was enough water over the reef above Aqualand for his foil. (There was, no carnage ensued.)

Chris P took his Superlight almost over the horizon upwind. If we ever get the new Wallys (epoxy rebirth of Windsurfer One Design) here, Chris's adventures with a Superlight might encourage a few people to get one.

After the sesh, took CPs suggestion to eat at Langdon's recommended bbq spot in Flowery Branch, Moonies Texas BBQ (on Atlanta Hwy just south of the traffic light). Thank you both for that recommendation. 5 stars.

Yep, plenty o water east of Island 16 (and the big gap farther east too). I kinda slunked & schlogged back home after seeing yous, but it came on again pretty good just before 7, when the Wednesday night races started. Somebody inclined to showing off (not me!) would have had a good time shredding those lead-bottomed tubs. Those peeps get all worked up when their knot meter nudges 10 Shok

Foildood... when you showed up sporting the 8.0 when I had spent all afternoon on the 5.2 pretty much powered up, I was in awe (I had even switched to the smaller wing). Thought you were going to hang a while.

I remember years ago going out with a group of people and there were a couple of keelboaters in the squad. They excitedly retold the feeling of watching the meter go 7... 8... 9. I guess that's how a Porsche owner feels when I tell him about my Honda Odyssey. Lol

Today's trivia: a recent model Honda Odyssey has more h.p. than a mid 80s Ferrari 308GT or non-turbo Porsche 911 (and is really close to the Turbo)

Yes - but Porsche and Ferrari drivers still get the girls. Apparently they are more impressed with sexy looks than a powerful motor under the hood.

I'm good. My girl and I picked out our new Odyssey together. Biggrin

My girl picked out our Honda Odyssey for herself and has not exactly gotten over my appropriating it 8 years and 100 thousand miles ago.

Anyway, looks like Sports Cars are the old school way to get the girls.

Sports cars: 27 percent.
SUVs: 16 percent.
Sedans: 11 percent.
Hybrid or electric: 9 percent.
UPS truck: 4 percent.
Minivans: 2 percent.
Mail trucks: 1 percent."

Thanks Randy. My wife has stayed with me over 50 years and is fine with my Van, but a guy has to be prepared for the unexpected. If the marriage falls apart, I'll keep your chart in mind and buy a pickup truck.

Randy, Nice stats but to quote that tired cliche, "the devil is in the details." They don't say what kind of women were attracted to each type of vehicle. There are plenty of women in the first two categories that would not find me attractive (even if I drove those vehicles) and vice versa (not my cup of tea).

Moreover, judging from the women (male) NASCAR and F1 drivers generally marry, that "race car" didn't show up in your stats makes me suspicious of their validity. Biggrin

Cars aside, yesterday was a fine day and tomorrow hints of more of the same but not quite as windy. Jim C, CP and I are likely participants.
