Windsporters pay attention to weather and forecasts about as much as pilots, mariners, etc so it's always interesting (and sometimes a bit shocking) when we encounter how many others encounter the same.

I remember one time when a daughter's friend wouldn't believe my warnings of imminent rain with "my phone says that the chance of rain is only 20% today". Yeah, but I was looking at the radar and could see we were about to get smacked. And the endless complaints of "they always get it wrong..." Sometimes I think smart phones have done about as much to damage weather literacy as the Farmer's Almanac.
