We continue to support US Windsurfing - we've renewed our club membership. If you'd like to join, you get a discount for being a member of the club (which you do by signing up here).

Our memberships requirements are a bit loose, I'll admit. Register on the web site and log in. If you'd like to send money, you can but no requirement to do so. https://windsportatlanta.com/join-the-abc

The biggest thing anyone can do for this community, imho, is participate. Chat, sail, click a like on a post here or on FB. It's not hard but means so much to the rest of us. That's what keeps us from circling the drain like so many spots - not just windsurfing but kiting, too.

Re: We renewed

Having considered biking and rowing as my main sports for over 30 years (showing my age), just over 2 years ago I decided to pick up windsurfing (showing my inexperience- combined with my age, doomed combo - can’t teach an old dog new tricks but I digress...) for those rare windy days where rowing might be too challenging. Being a side activity for me in an area not known for wind, I figured one board and a couple sails ought to do it.

Fast forward to today, I have accumulated a considerable quiver - 4 boards, 11 sails, 5 masts, 3 booms, foil with 3 wings, and all the extra paraphernalia and clothing that go with all that.

What’s my point: I blame the support and community atmosphere (and a little bit of equipment envy and friendly competition) of this club. My rowing club doesn’t do this and neither do my biking buddies. I think we all would agree that, as the backbone of this club who tirelessly keeps this website fed and energized even when we have weeks of no wind in sight, webguy should by far get the blunt of the blame. Smile

Having said all that, putting my weakness in getting sucked in and going overboard in spending (particularly considering my competency in the sport) aside, thank you for all you do for this club Mr. Webguy.

And happy New Year to all!
