Hi, I am looking for a place to stay in Bonaire this summer, what are your recommendations? (ocean view, and if possible hotel style)
thanks
Ray

Looks like they are having a terrible time Wink

David -- Any problems with the cruise ships? I heard that the crowds can swamp Lac Bay on the days they are in town. Wondering if this is just an exaggeration.

Dave, thanks for the video showing us what a fun time you're having in Bonaire. Nice job!

I do have a couple questions. How many windsurfers were there this May? When we sailed with you last June, it seemed there were a hundred windsurfers at Lac Bay. And where are the beautiful, topless Dutch girls this year???

Great video, David, wish we were there! I'd say the most I remember was maybe 25 windsurfers last June at Lac Bay, and I've never seen any cruise ship folks make it over. Here's my favorite place to stay...

There were not many people on the water this time. Max 10 - Plenty of room for falling jibes.

I talked with the owner of Windsurf Place and they said that now cruise ships come 3 or 4 at a time. I have been downtown with one cruise ship docked and it was crowded but I cannot imagine 3 or 4 docked at the same time. Imagine if there were 3 cruise ships and you wanted to sail and they had no more boards or sails to give out. I could see that happening. That would waist your trip.

As far as lodging goes, the best by far is Plaza Resort. It has so much more to offer than any other place. I have stayed at Bel Mar and Harbor Village and the Plaze at about $100 more per week beats everybody Hands Down. There is so much more offered at the Plaza that it is too much to write so if you want to know call me at 770-985-6248.
Plaza - big sandy beach, access to water, lots of nice cushion chairs, beach shade, happy hour BOGO free bar, 3 resturants, diving, rooms are twice as big as Bel Mar, air stays on all day, ocean front room, two tv's ( by the way we get WXIA TV 11 down there ), free internet, 3 computers and wifi, ( how do you think I got that video done ), big pool, very pretty, BBQ beach party all you can eat $12.50 PP, movie night on the beach $5, gated parking, two lagoons, marina, iguanas, parriots, Is that enough yet.

Like I said it has 100 times more than Bel Mar for $100 more per week.

Plaza is more like a nice place in Maui. Call me.

Like I said it has 100 times more than Bel Mar for $100 more per week.

Our group has stayed at the Plaza several times, and although it is very nice, we all still prefer Belmar. The Plaza just seems too big, too far from the parking lot, too Dutch, and too expensive. Personally, I would stay at Belmar over the Plaza even if the Plaza was less expensive. We prefer the small size of Belmar, the full kitchens, the better view and better diving (we like diving the south end of the island), and the pool and dock are fantastic. Also, the last time we were there the lagoons at the Plaza created a big mosquito issue.
