Update on Gene

Gene just called and he sounded very good. Biggrin He seemed to be in very good spirits and was talking like he might get out of the hosp. before Christmas. He may be a little optimistic about it all, but it was great to hear from him. He said he does tire quickly, but is now getting some rest as they have moved him out of intensive care. He's watching the trees by his window, looking for signs of wind. From what he said, the Dr's are pretty optimistic about his recovery.

Apparenty Gene had an infection after all, possibly hospital acquired. As Randy posted above, Gene is doing much better today and hopes to be discharged before Christmas.

Hallelujah! Gene is getting better and sounds like he'll be home for Christmas. That's the best Christmas present we all could hope for - Gene's good health and his recovery.

Thanks Randy and Barrett for all the info you are providing about Gene. We were out of town and didn't learn about Gene until Monday. I hope Gene will be home soon. Lol

I also talked with Gene yesterday. It appears that he has two goals in mind. The first he has already accomplished by getting out of ICU which he absolutly hated. The next is to get out of that hospital room and into his own house. He did sound good, like Randy said. He was talking about the same old same old. I told him that Joe and Barret sailed the other day. He did not mention that he was ready to get back on the water quite yet. Hospital food is terrible and he says he has to force himself to eat it. So look for a skinner Gene in the next week or two. If we do go and visit then it would be a great time to bring him some smoked chicken. I asked him about visitors and he is not ready yet. Be patient. He really enjoyed the card that was signed at the party. I am sure it brightens up his room. I told him all about the party including the fact that William got drunk and danced naked on the bar thinking he was doing a wind alter dance. In short, I thought he sounded great.

No such thing - it ws the dizzying prospect of winning any of the swag brought by Chuck and Gene (by proxy). Darn that Falkenberg for taking it all.

Great news on Gene - we've all been concerned. The updates mean a lot to all of us so keep them coming. Can't wait till the "Wild" board (Gene's old favorite highwind board) is back on the water.

Thanks for the postings. Helped keep an out-of-towner informed. I just talked to Gene a few minutes ago. He shared some wisdom that I oughts heed in my advancing years - Loop while you can!

Sounds like he'll have a few weeks at half-speed and then the docs will turn him loose to rip again. Pretty cool.
