We are going to give away two charters for the Fall Classic to club members to winners of our essay contest.
There are going to be two categories:
1) The most humorous/creative reason you deserve a charter. Or just a funny windsurfing story. Entertain us!
2) The best sob story. Real personal tragedy not necessarily a plus. We're looking for creative writing here and not exploiting someone's real life pain. Tell us why you deserve a charter dammit.
Extra points for visuals (photos, drawings, videos). Brevity is not a plus. We want some effort put into this unless you have a one liner worth of Oscar Wilde.
There will be an esteemed panel of judges which may include me, a rodent, AI or a something entirely random. Still to be determined. Rest assured, the reasoning will be illogical and subject to the alignment of the planets.
Post your entries below. Void where prohibited and you are responsible for any damage to the charter.

anyone? anyone? At the moment it's like buying a raffle ticket when no one else is. Chances are really, really high.
I deserve a charter, mainly because I am the man. But besides all that and the fame and glory that comes with it, without a charter, it will be difficult for me to enter the longboard races at Fall Classic 2024. Big deal, right? Yes, big deal. Why? I already explained to you that I AM THE MAN. But besides that, who would you have to compete against? No one, there would be no real competition, only a bunch of folks who watched a YouTube how-to video the week before and think they have what it takes to win in gusty, lake conditions. There is no YouTube video that can prepare you for the kind of skill needed to weather those conditions. I have real life experience and am prepared to show those skills via total domination! Why else do I deserve to win an LT Charter? Because if I don't that means I'm a loser, and no one wants a sore loser around for the weekend...... remember Eeyore? Winnie the Pooh's friend? Yeah. Also, If I win a charter, and win the race, I promise to only gloat passive-aggressively!! It's a win-win for everyone! So how about it! Have your people call my people.

Cody sez last call for charter boards is Tuesday!
Why I deserve a charter: Woe is me. My only sails are a 6.4 and 8.0, neither good for Sport or Open categories! And, to add to my stress, my daughter Nikki just turned 13 two days ago - that alone deserves to win a charter on sympathy alone - having a teenage daughter! But amazingly, she actually wants to come to the Fall Classic this weekend, and is willing to camp with her Dad!!! Maybe even learn to windsurf!
But now the problem is, I can't fit all my windsurfing gear, and camping gear, and teen-age daughter with her "teenager" gear all in the car. If I only had a LT charter is would solve this as I could leave my inappropriate windsurfing gear at home. Please consider this to save the father of a teenager daughter from having to hear complaints about how there is no room in the car for the whole drive and how that is somehow "messing up her hair". (Plus possibly being forced to have the car radio play whatever that stuff is that teenagers call 'music' for the whole drive to Lake Lanier).
Attached is photo to shamelessly try to win bonus points.
Thank you
We're all done here, folks! Two winners. Congrats to Phil and Stephen.
Looks like a nice turnout for the Fall Classic.

Thank you for this.
Don't thank us. Your daughter sent in a nice contribution to the windsportatlanta pension fund.
Seriously, hope you all have a good time. If she needs a bail out option from camping, my lake house is 15 min away.
Phil: Congrats on second place!!

Congrats to Phil and Nikki!
This is a nice boat you are sailing on ...
