Mimi - given the forecast wind speed and direction, SE 5-10, and the fact that it's a big holiday weekend with many boaters and PWCs out on the water, you might want to consider trying Lake Acworth. It's a smallish lake, not far from Gault's, should be good on SE, boats are horsepower restricted, and last I knew, no personal watercraft. The best launch is at the boat ramp on the north side. You can find it on an Allatoona Lake Map. If you need directions or further info, give a call - Chris - 404-784-0287.
Chris, considering this is my 6th time out, I was worried about the motorboats at Galts. (I may go there tomorrow...) I will take your advice and go to Acworth Beach today. Thanks.
It's me again, back from Acworth Beach. Well, my windsuring van finally broke down right there next to the boat ramp so I didn't sail today. It probably would have been an ok sailing day - Chris you were right, there was a fishing boat or two but the lake was clear of speedboats. I was just grateful to get the engine started again and make it home. Does anyone have recommendations for the "ideal" windsurf vehicle? Are some kinds of manufacturer's roof racks (the ones already on the vehicles) better than others (for compatibility with a winsurfing rack you add to it...)?Will look for something used.
