THURSDAY WIND

I enjoyed meeting some of you last Monday at Vans Tavern. It was a nice welcome for this newcomer to Atlanta. Is Vans Tavern the place to be if the wind is East or Southe East? Just would like to know where to go. I look forward to some great sailing if the rain holds off. Thanks in advance, Trey Olney (770)-301-6541

Vanns (not Vans - look for the old newsletter article about the Cherokee Chief Vann. It's an interesting bit of history.)- nice launch, view and nice ramps about 400 yds out. Van Pugh for the geographically challenged (ie Gene who lives 2 min from VP but 30 min from VT). Galts for those NW of Atlanta (May-retta, etc.) or crave lots of jibes and flat water.

I'll probably head to VaNN's Tavern tomorrow, even though it's a lot farther for me. I think the forecast is for east and then going souhteast on Friday. If it is North East, I may sail Van Pugh, but probably Vanns Tavern is the best call.

Hope to get out fairly early, hope to see everyone there.

If you see a little girl and her dog flying past, say hello for me. I think the dog's name is Tofu or something like that.

I'm heading to Vann's Tavern in about 15 Mins, should be there by around 10:00. Danny J called and he's almost there now.

Bring your small sails and your rain gear.

Van Pugh was great until about 11:30 when the wind seemed to turn more SE. Was on a 7.1 the whole time planing with the a 135 Liter board.

Yes it got much "worse" after that. By about 5:00 the big dogs were getting spanked on 3.5s. BTW, Phillip wins. Welcome Trey... hey, it's always like this.
what a day

i survived.. big jump on the 4.2 in 40mph went up gust got me went higher
then the landing with a delayed catapult but strong enough to break the head of my boom(the hinge split) i broke it with my neck and shoulder.. i am glad this stuff breaks so easy..
50 yards offshore (swell 3-4 feet)i flew the sail and let it drag me towards land. just missed land by the boat launch by 25 feet. swam it in on the lee side to land.
CV had me in early planning and board speed but the jibes were close.
we were on 5.5
late in the day was on my8'2" 68 liter wave maui project 4.7 then had to do a 4.2
