I have not sailed much during these conditions. With the wind gusting over 20 with sleet and ice pelllets, do you use a bigger or smaller sail than normal?

Don't worry about the sail size. Stock up on the hot coffee and gloves. Keep the car idling and the heater running. Have short intervals where you get back onshore and rejuvinate. Stay close to shore and don't go out alone.
OK, they've changed the forecast overnight, now not as much wind, still cold, and NO Snow.
