Sailed sweetwater today. Had a heavy board and kept it on a plane most of the time with a 7.5.
Only 1 person in the swim area. Occasional boaters.
Winds did not get more than 15, but did not fall below 8 until after 6pm.
trying to post a reply, this will be my second attempt
what's the deal on the heavier board? was that an advantage over the one you had at Galts? Linda
Linda, The board you were looking at when we were at Galts is what I am referring to as the heavier board. As compared to a modern epoxy shortboard that I can lift with one hand. I think because it had a lot more flotation (185 litres) it was helping me get on a plane quickly.
I actually used a shortboard for part of the day but it only was getting on a 1/2 plane.
I sailed Galt's Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00. Wasn't bad on the 9.0 and Titan. Had lots of planning runs and manged a few jibes, including one impressive one right in front of the beach.
Lots of boats traffic including the AYC sailboat races, which forced me downwind quite a ways. Dan was also out with an 8.5 and looked like he was having a good time too.
I would have gone out today except the clamp on my boom failed. Something else to fix...

where is Galts???? Lanier???
Galts Ferry is at Lake Altoona
Sorry Nitro, its spelled AlanToona, or Toona for short.
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
What's up with that Randy? AlanToona?
It used to be called Lake RandyToona (or the "Baby Pool"), back in the day, when I was the only guy regularly sailing there.
