Got to Van Pugh around 8, Barrett arrived a little later. We saild 7.4 and 8.3 till about noon. Pretty solid planning most of the time, but (as always) dropped off at the end.

Sailed the 11.0 and Phoenix 320 from about 1000 to 1230, planning most of the time. Eddie sailed an 8.5 with a Formula board and seemed to do almost as good. Like Lanier, the wind dropped off after 1200. -Bill H.

Bill,

Why didn't you sail the formula board?

Randy,

I didn't sail the Techno Formula because I was curious to see how the 11.0 worked on the Phoenix. It seemed to work just fine, although I had to move the mast foot back slightly to comfortably get the sail effort lined up with the fin. That made going upwind while planning easier.

I've been considering the replacing both the Formula and the Phoenix with a Bic Hybrid, hoping for a good closeout deal of course. I still like having a CB for when the wind drops below planning. The Formula just isn't that much fun in those conditions.

Since getting the 11.0 and the Formula I've found that while I get a lot more planning in, I also go out on a lot more borderline 5-10 days, and a lot of times it's still not enough to plane or the wind is just up and down. It would be nice to have a lightwind cruising option since I've already invested the time to get to the lake.

I'm sure the Formula planes up a couple mph sooner, but perhaps the trade off will be worth it. Unfortunatly, I guess I'll have to buy one to find out.

I have a board that you might be interested in. You can try it before you buy it. Send me an email if you are intersted.
