Sun 11/09 who's going and where?

Forcast looks good all day, east north east, where's everybody going, Van Pugh or Van's Tavern? I plan to leave by 11:00, if everybody's going to Van's Tavern, I may go there or I may sail from Van Pugh. Everybody could meet in the middle of the lake, the longest fetch?

Drew and I went to Vann's Tavern. Drew has not been on a board for almost a year. He did great. Even impressed the locals with a back bend head dip and a forward. Water is still warm, if you can believe that. I finally got going good on my 8.0 but some were sailing 5.9 earlier in the day. Sunny 65 degrees and lots of friends.

Galt's Ferry Report:

On the water at 9:30 AM with 6.5 and Phoenix. Planning almost 100% until around 11:00 then a gradual increase of non-planning periods until 1:00 PM when it became almost 100% non-planning. Too lazy to rig 8.5.

Water was exceptionally flat. Made most of my jibes and close to planning completely through. Also sailing was Patrick with his Starboard Start (looks like he's ready for a harness). Had to stay upwind of the Atlanta Yacht Club sailboat racing.

Hurray for Patrick. Two months ago, he literally started out (no pun intended) and now he's ready for a harness. Hope he's enjoying the Start, it sounds like he is. Glad to see someone get up and going so quickly.

I did make it over to Van's Tavern but not until around noon, and missed most of it, but did sail and hang out.

I have decided that if these East winds have any North in it (ENE) i'm going to Van Pugh. I talked to a few sailors who sailed from Van Pugh and they got the same wind. Besides the fact that it is so much closer for me, there is no wind shaddow, (it blows from Aqualand Marina) and if you sail out past those 2 islands I think you get the best wind. Also, I need to remember that most East winds shut down by noon. I hate I missed it, sometimes I get lazy and dumb.

Next time.

Good line "I hate I missed it, sometimes I get lazy and dumb. "

My version is that I "wussed out" I coulda sailed early - sad.
