speaking of the GA coast's Golden Isles: report from SSI

Had a awesome windsurf session at St Simons on Sunday – 5.3 and 115 liter (‘cause that was smallest I had with me) – on a NNW wind which is the direction that allows some of the real swell to sneak in sideways through the outer sand bar structure there. Really fun ocean-style mega chop and some actual classic bottom-turning wave riding to be had. And, on the inside, with the wind coming across the low-tide point, it was all the smooth speed running you could want. What a user-friendly, multi-faceted venue for windsurfing! I was there weekend with Danny Johnson setting up a new Whitecap SUP enclosed trailer to store out 7 demo boards we’re keeping down there. **

(**It may be winter now, but If you’ve got wetwear – and it’s a pretty day – these SUP’s at St Simons Island are all set and ready for anyone to demo. Arrangements are easy with our Whitecap host on the island, John Laing, if I’m not there. Not only great flat-water marsh and inlet venues for getting comfortable on a SUP, but could not be a better place to learn to actually surf waves! And all these models are windsurfable! The best way to contact anyone of us is through Whitecap’s other website: http://www.WhitecapSUP.com )
