Saturday Morning 6/13/15

Models showing glimmer of hope just before noon for a bit. Peelskid and Marek in OR are killing me. I'm ready to sell a kidney for a decent 6.5 day. I doubt I'll be selling a kidney tomorrow as it looks like, at best, a big sail day.

What forecast are you looking at. I'm not seeing it. You excited about the 2 gust dots 11-12? Today they are showing 5 dots on the NOAA model.

Yes, those two dots on Saturday morning. It's on those small, almost tiny dots that I hang my windsurfing hopes on. It's much like a stranded mountain climber placing his hope on a thin piece of thread. I don't think there's much chance of success for either of us but we have no other options at this point.

Today's dots seem to coincide with a sizeable chance of precip which is NOAA talk for wind with thunderstorms. Tomorrow's dots seem to be free of such electrical encumbrances. If it looks dry and breezy this afternoon, I'm not averse to taking a chance. I've been staring at pixels all week and need a break.

Two dots would be a lot better than Chris and I got today at the river. (Unless it got a whole lot better after I left.)

We'll be driving back to Atlanta tomorrow and passing by the Lake, so I checked the forecast. 2 dots of gusts in the morning - that's true desperation. The wind was blowing from the West as we drove through North Carolina, but died as we drove south. Maybe a tropical storm will brew up in the Gulf.

Thanks guys. Now you've scared my two little dots away. Those were the only two dots I've had in a few weeks - and now they're gone. Cray 2

Two dots MIA? It could be that nothing has changed except the person running the model. A shift change between yesterday afternoon and last night could have meant the model was re run. The night guy is just more pessimistic, so he turns the dials down on the model. (The most important thing in any model is the guy running - not the data. Data is a very distant second.) Happens a lot. You should still go out Webguy. Your dots might still be there.

Here's the latest installment of SUK action. Today at the Lake. How many dots? I don't know, but enough to continue my science experiments. I'm figuring if I can perfect this, it will be a good gateway drug to start the SUPeeps into into the downward spiral to harder, more addictive wind sports like the black hole (kitesurfing) or the bottomless pit known as windsurfing.

I can see it now "I'm going to try a kite on my SUP - just this once."

Wind at the river was pretty good at first, then lighter and more sporadic later, but I had a good time just the same.
