Saturday May 3 - Allatoona

Sat 5/3 is looking like it may be a repeat of last sat.  (W-NW 5-15???).  I was thinking of heading to Galts, but fear the sailboat races may be a permanent fixture (on my private lake - the nerve).  So any ideas for an alternate spot - maybe Old 41 (ok for W and better for SW, but probably not so good for nw) or something near red top mtn?  (I'd go to Van Pugh, but soccer game puts me off I75 in the late pm.)

Randy, I would join you but will be working all day. I'm just hoping there will be some wind left over for Sunday morning...

Re: Saturday May 3 - Allatoona

Sunday morning is a really tough question - will lightning (or wind) strike twice in the same place?  Last sun at 9 the wind picked up to 12 or so at Gainsville from the east.  I waited a while, but not long, then headed out to Tidwell.  More than enough when I got there (10:30 or so), but by the time I rigged up it was done.  Enough for one plane and that was it.  Soon dropped off so much, it was not worth staying.

So this sunday, the forecast also shows a small peak from the east around 11 am (pretty much like last week).  I've seen lots of times in the past, when this picked up enough for a solid hour or so under these very circumstances.  But looks like to catch it, I may have to get up early and wait for it.  Worth it?  I am not sure.  I imagine it will look a lot less inviting than my bed on sunday about 8 am.
