Anybody up for boat dodging on Allatoona? Weather is showing SW which may mean that Sweetwater will be better. I have never sailed at this end of the lake. What is better, Sweetwater or Cherokee Park? Both are in the same area. If it is more West I may try Galts.

By Cherokee park, I assume you mean Fields Landing park. Its a great spot and has a really long fetch and is very nice from the sw. I haven't sailed at Sweet water, but the main diff would seem to be that at Sweet water a sw wind would be side shore, while at Fields landing SW winds are onshore. I'd probably go to Fields Landing as its closer for me between the two. (Also, you need to check and see if Sweet water is open.) Fields does get crowded, so parking is harder to get.

Basically, Sweet water is upwind maybe a mile from Fields. I've sailed from one Fields up to S W the last few times I went out with my longboard. The lake is narrower at S W if I recall the geography right.

As for me, I'll probably be going to 2 Mile on Sat if I can get away, and assuming the wind is w or sw.

Alan,
Sweetwater is CORP controlled. Your yearly pass will let you in. Fields landing is private or something, you pay for every visit.

Randy is right about the differences with the wind direction.

Pat,

I've never had to pay to get into Fields. Its not private, its Cherokee county. There never seems to be anyone there to collect $ in that little booth. (Not saying that will always be true, but I've been there several times.)

Patrick,

I wanted to touch base with you about the sail. It is a nice sail and I think your price is fair. My concern is whether it is large enough to fit between my 6.6 and 9.0. I don't think it is. I will probably wait and see if I can get something in the mid to high 7 range.

Thanks for the offer and if someone needs a nice sail in that size it is a good deal.

Alan
