Saturday 10-14 Old Federal

Looks like another windy afternoon is possible Saturday. There are several of us that are looking to hit Old Federal just after 1pm for a little afternoon kiting.

Wow! Unbelievable afternoon on Lake Lanier at the Old Federal Beach. (Sun, Sand and Wind with Warm water) There were 8 of us out there. The bow kites definately offer an advantage in the gusty conditions. Well I guess it was gusty from what the C kiters were saying... Wink We probably got in 3 hours of kiting. First time that the whole group has come back in to chat and then gone out again. That was an awesome kiting day.......

That was Incredible ! For the first time i really feel sore from kitesurfing on lanier. Bow kites have the advantage definately. But if you only have a C-kite its still possible because theres a nice beach pleanty of room.
I cant wait to go again !!!!
Mel thanks for letting me try your 14M GK sonic I think thats the best kite to have.
Emilio : I'd like to try the North Rebel 07 that kite seems like a bullet in the sky yet plenty of depower just what we need on the lake. also I think we all need to use that new helmet of yours that has a built in radio !!!

Saturday October 14th 2006. What a great day for kitesurfing it was.

Not only because it was very windy, nor because I had all of the right equipment, neither because I hit the water first or I was the last to exit, etc, etc, etc…. it was great not because any of above usual personal reasons (me…me…me), but because I saw for the first time the fruits of all of us kitters sticking together and making it happen in ATL for the last year.

For the first time in ATL we had 8 people, all at the same time, all at the same location kitting on a perfect sunny Saturday breezy afternoon. I couldn’t believe my eyes when 8 of us were riding up wind and jumping, doing flips, cruising…. Long gone are the days were isolated “lunatics” went to Lanier on a solo missions to derive downwind, or worst.

Saturday was the proof that the community has grown to the point were we can say we are a legit group of kitters. 80 in total according to my database! Saturday remembered me places I have been where you can feel the passion and love for the sport, and a vibrant kiting community. I saw lot of people helping launch and land kites, I saw people stoping riding themself to lend a kite to a friends to experience the new new thing, I saw couching and camaraderie. What a great group of people, and what a fantastic afternoon.

Best Rgds to all, and see you soon, hopefully on Lake Lanier, again on a windy day!!!

khalil,

Hey it's seth. The last time I went up there with you guys you said you got your kite for dirt cheap, and I now I am in the market for a kite, seeing as I destroyed mine this weekend in Florida. Tore a giant hole through the center and broke off one of my lines, but up until that point is was the most fun i've ever had in almost hurricane force winds, haha. I'm going to try and get it fixed through flexifoil, but it's a 12m so I need something bigger anyways. And if anyone who reads this has any info, let me know at "sdking2@gmail.com" .

Could someone tell me too if the best idea is to send it in to flexifoil?? I've looked at the self repairs and i'd rather pay to have it done right, but not sure if I could just send it in to some other kite company.
