I am planning on planing at LLSC Saturday. All ya'll are welcome to join me. LLSC is good in south to west, (almost good in NW). Last f'cast I saw was calling for west. just call me for the gate code. 404.386.8505

fyi kite dudes, the beach there is huge. If you can get upwind at all, I bet it'll work for you too... come on down.

It was a fun time. Pretty wicked wind in the pm, sailed 6.0. BTW - those sail boats there are pretty cool. I even saw one sailing by itself...... Bad thing was it was doing better than me.

Today (sat) was fun, warm and sunny AND it did get real windy for awhile. Sail sizes ranged from 7.5 to 6.0, and the 7.5s were overpowered briefly. But before everyone could rig down it slacked back off. I also had a ride on Chris V's Hobie, that was fun, but a lot colder than windsurfing.

Tomorrow (Sun) is still looking good, I'm going to sail Van Pugh.

(Sun) A VERY EXCITING DAY! The wind was out of the west, pretty gusty (5 to 30+) and very strong. It was survival sailing. It was warm, around 60 but the cold water and wind-chill still made it chilly. I did wear a hood and Palmless mittens. We had a good crowd, around 10 sailors and the sail sizes ranged from 5.8 to 4.5, with more toward the 4.5, and the 5.8 actually got trashed. I sailed my 5.2 on 102 liter board most of the day and went down to the 4.5 at the end. It was a lot of fun, kind of.

5.00... W 22 G 31... 58
4.00... NW 23 G 31... 60
3.00... W 16 G 32... 59
2.00... W 22 G 32... 58
1.00... W 23 G 32... 58

It sure felt like those gusts were more than 31 / 32 didn't it?

It was not a day for sailing expensive gear. Al and I sailed at "the Wind Tunnel" (Little Ridge, aka Galts Jr.) Pretty fun, but scary wicked at times. We sailed 4.5-5.0 100 liter boards. This spot is very flat, right accross from Mary Alice park at the end of Lanier Beach Road South. I'm anxious to try it on a longboarding type day.
