Here's the story, on the Nova with my 8.5, I was planing maybe 75% of the time, I'd say it was in the 10 to 15 range, just barely capping. The airport readings were saying alittle more:
11:53 NE 13 G 20
10:53 E 14 G 22
09:53 E 17 G 23 8.00
Anyway, for about 30 minutes, pretty nice, sailing by myself AND THEN....
It was a pretty outstanding day. I was on my 9.5 and formula board from 9:30 till about 11 and the sail was bigger than I wanted, but not that bad (once I applied max downhaul). (Still I don't think I can sail a 9.5 in 17g23 winds, so I'd say it was more 9-12 at that time.) Did drop off some to say 7-10, then 6-8 so I switched to my longboard which was pretty nice.
BTW - the Aqauland wind report was mostly in the 8-15 range, while G-villw was reporting some pretty big winds. Guess today Aqualand was more realistic. A great day for August 5.
