Sailing Sullivan's Island

As a long time advocate of windsurfing at Station 29 on Sullivan's Island near Charleston, SC, I've often been asked about camping.  Last week I checked out a lead and found a decent KOA campground located within 10 miles of Sta. 29.  It's on Hwy. 17, about 4 miles north of the Isle of Palms causeway.  Tenting, 2per site is $17, $19 w/ elec.  They even have a little lake there and a sand volleyball court.  Tides for the beach for Sat. 6/15 will be high about noon and low about 6:00, which can be ideal for flatwater sailing inside the bar, especially if you have a southerly seabreeze.  I'll be there, but will probobly miss Saturday to attend a wedding.

:-/Chris, this sounds good except that we have a trip scheduled that would conflict. Maybe another time.

Sounds good to me too, but my brother will be in town to see the Braves play that weekend.  (I know no one cares, but I am way behind everybody on posts, since I didn't get credit for my guest logins.)

Can't go myself (but the mrf MOS is starting to look interesting- hope that isn't wind under a thunderhead).

but I digress-

Randy, the fact that Bill has made it to junior member status isn't bugging you is it? Wink

What time frame for the MRF?  (The grads.iges. MRF forecast seems to be showing something for this weekend, maybe sat or sunday, but can't tell for sure.  Then again, it is always optimistic.) Anyway, I've got lookouts posted on all 4 borders of the state in case any wind shows up this weekend so I can catch it.  I'm thinking of wanted posters as well.

As for Bill,  it looks like in the Posting Regatta he is planing, while I'm merely schlogging.  But then, I only post freestyle and displacement mode anyway.  Maybe he has a Pentium 4Zillion, compared to my lousy Pentium 3.  Then again, maybe its just technique and constant practice.

Gentleman,

You may be quite shocked :o to hear this, but most of my posts, along with preparation of the newsletter occur on my 233 MHz Pentium II computer.  Obviously, my taste for less than new equipment isn’t limited to windsurfing.  If I won the lottery though…  :-/

I'm interested in a road trip to Sullivan's Island next weekend, 6/14 - 6/17.  I'd like to check out the camping as hotels in the area have always been alittle pricey.  Anyone interested give me a call (770-967-0104).

Is anyone making the trip to Station 29 this weekend?

I'm thinking of going for Saturday/Sunday.
