Sailing Report Monday April 17th

I know I have made DVDs entitled Big Dogs of Van Pugh but I do not consider myself to be one of those dogs. In fact, I find that sailing in gusty winds that reach 40 mph is a lot more work than fun.

This brings us to yesterday at Van Pugh. All I can say is why go to Aruba when you can go to Lake Lanier. Yesterday was sunny, 87*, warm water and blowing. Take a look for yourself:

I arrived about 11am and waited for about an hour before the wind came up. Marcel and I enjoyed a fantastic day on the water. Flat smooth warm water and totally powered up. Steady wind. This all made for a day of sucessful jibes and speed planning. Best day I have had this year. I wish they could all be like this.

How do we order more of this. I think it would be worth the cost.

looks like y'all got a bit more wind than we did at juliette.
I think our average was 14-21 but still a good day on 7.0's

Allatoona was good also. Four sailors that rigged high sixes. The wind was gusty from the W with an occasional SW and NW. Overall, a nice day. Sure is nice to be out of those suits!

Yes, we too scape from work, a bit later than other more fortunate souls. Mel, Khaleel and myself, arrived at Lake Lanier by 4:00 PM and sailed well into 7:30 PM. As others pointed out, we had an AWESOME session. For the first time 3 people conquer (sail upwind for 45min and return to same departing point with no incidents) Lake Lanier with Kites in one day!!!!. I guess, so much for my cruzade. The new bow kites make so simple, it seems now ridiculous why in previous years we couldn't achieve the same thing. Another comment is the level of safety that these new kites deliver. TOTAL DEPOWER means no problems when launching/ landing... Please be aware of future invitations to come with us to Lanier and check it out... and who knows, we may see you next kitting with us in Lanier!!!.

Rgds,

Emilio.

I truely have to say this, I have been kitesurfing since 2002 and I have never expeirenced such a great kite. The GK sonic 14m took me upwind in a blink of an Eye.
Friends, Kitesurfing has just moved to a different level, I was hesitant before about kitesurfing on the lake with my older 8 kites ! but with this new kite ( GK sonic ) its so easy and SAFE the degree of control i had on the kite i could absorb 10 knot gust with extreme ease.

I think the kite of the future that I have always dreamt of has arrived i dont need to wait more and especially for kiting on the lake , This is the kite to buy......
all you need is two kites to cover the whole range of wind.

All thanks to Emilio for letting me test the GK sonic 14, If anybody needs more details please dont hesitate to ask.

Khalil
