Rodanthe in the News.

Rodanthe got absolutely hammered by Irene's surge. You can now sail soundside or beach from the same house.

That new inlet on the fixed image of the video is at Miro Beach, just above a number of houses that many of us have stayed at over the years.

When I was up there this summer, I was shocked at the amount of erosion at that end of the island since I'd last been up to Hatteras a number of years ago (youth soccer season cruelly overlaps the usual Hatteras dates). The ocean didn't have to do that much work as the road was already exposed.

It's a beautiful place but it's a misnomer to think one "owns" property there. It's a lease, perhaps short term, maybe long term but eventually the ocean prevails.
