Places to windsurf around Greenville, SC?

I am in Greenville SC and the wind is strong. Unfortunately I am working and cant get away. Just moved here last month from Alabama. I used to windsurf local lakes in Bama and am now looking for the nearest watering hole in this area. Any suggestions? thanks! Jim Waddill

Possibilities:

a little further but Lake Murray looks like it really hooks up on W/NW

I sailed at a regatta at lake keowee forever ago. It's pretty decent sized but I couldn't suggest any launches.

This group may be helpful, too:

And, there's alway Charleston. It's a long way away, I know but a fantastic place to sail. And, you are two hours closer to Hatteras than we are and some of us go once or twice a year.

btw, where'd you sail in AL?

Lake Monticello is a good option, but Lake Hartwell is your closest option. I have never sailed their though, but I know that people do.

Lake Hartwell - Green Pond - a free public access area, works on anything from southwest to, I suppose north. If it's east try broyles landing (fee site). If you see Ira, tell him Chris says hi.

Thanks for the tips. I will try Hartwell the next chance I get. Checking the map it looks like there should be several good areas and is probably a step up from Lake Tuscaloosa and Lake Lurleen. Chris, call me when you come to Greenville. Hopefully a storm will brew so we can go to Hartwell. Thks Jim 205 394-4399
