Just my kind of sailing. Yesterday, Monday at Van Pugh. Sunny, 88 degrees, water warm, lot of steady wind, good company, no boats, flat water, - what else can one ask for?
Just as good as Kanaha, Canadian Hole, Bonaire, Aruba, The Gorge and even Fred Howard but a lot closer.
It may happen again today.
Who was that guy on the kite that was getting the body FLUSH???

My bid to play hookie failed - congratulations! It's windy today, Tues, also!
Looks like most of the week is going to rock. This must be some kind of record for the time of year. I thought 3 planing days in a row in March was cool...
4-23 How about 6.0 118 litre board in Knoxville!!!! Fully powered for 3-4 hours!!!
Sweet!!!
Today looks better, though works beckons (drats)
I could get used to these conditions! Very odd to be without the 20lbs of neoprene. We, too, had a good day at Clarks Hill. I was on a 5.3 and my big board (99 L), but at times could have been on something smaller. Chris had a nice day at Lake Juliette, with the added plus of warmer waters...
Juliette report for tuesday: warm and breezy .. Jon D and I watched chris sail circles around us, We were discussing drilling holes in chris's board to slow him down a bit but instead we went in and Jon rigged a 9.8 me a 7.9 and of course it kicked in about the time we got back out there.
spent the remainder of the day on 6.2's
great day
Great day at Galt's as well. Jimmy, Alan, Bill, Linda, sailed along with me. Sailed mostly 5.8 to 6.5.

Alan, I owe you and Jon a big thank you for going in and rigging the 'big stuff'. I thought the wind was dying for day until you guys went back. Those last two hours of the day were very, very sweet.
On another note, I could not believe how much warmer Juliette was than Clarks Hill (and I would assume Lanier as well). Man that felt great!
Chris
Randy,
Did the blue board make it out?
Webguy,
Made it out Monday and Tuesday. Monday was mostly underpowered on 7.0, but sailed it about 45 minutes or so and got a few planning runs in. Did one "hero jibe" near the beach (where all the naysayers who said I rigged too small were cheering me on). It was not hard to sail in schlog mode, jibe, tack or uphaul. Was about 9 for 10 on jibes. Switched to my Hypersonic with the O2 8.4 and was very nicely powered the rest of the day.
Tuesday was a different story - sailed the Bic 1.5 hour maybe on 5.75. Easy to sail in a straight line, and fairly easy to get planning, there wasn't a lot of chop, but it handled the boat chop well. It was fun and fast going in a straigt line. However, I was about 2 for 30 on jibes. I therefore got lots of practice waterstarting and uphauling. A skinny 101 is a lot different animal than a fat 105, that's for sure. Felt like a begginer again. (Sort of fun in a perverse way, like eating so much chocolate that you puke). I'll have to go watch "Turn for the Better" again. (Don't understand it - I was making half my jibes on the 84 liter at Nags Head.)
