Outer Banks Report

The first week was with family - great weather, but not very windy. We kayaked, hiked at Nags Head Woods, saw whales on a beach walk, rode bikes and windsurfed with big stuff. My brother said Friday was his best windsurfing day ever, but I wanted more wind.

As soon as Marcel arrived the wind shifted to the SW and has been blowing nonstop since last night. This morning we went out with 5 meter sails and 84 liter boards. Conditions were perfect. This afternoon we sailed 4.2 m with an 84 liter board for Marcel, and 77 liter board for me. I was comfortable with a thin, shorty wetsuit. Ron made seared Tuna over salad with fried brown rice & shrimp, followed by fresh rhubarb pie - a delicious dinner watching the sun set over Roanoke Sound!

I love this place! (unqualified, no hidden message)

Great day down in Rodanthe, too!! Sailed a 4.7 all day on three different boards, overpowered at times. It's still SW and capping right now, so I'm heading out on a 5.5.

I too love this place, but it ain't quite the same without Gene and Lisa.

Big Al, please come for a visit if you're up in Nags Head for groceries, etc. Our address is 221 Bays Edge Drive in Nags Head Village.

It was another epic day sailing 5.2m & 84 liter board with NO wetsuit.

We've sailed every day this week. Today the wind was again steady out of the SW. Marcel, Mel, Kathryn, Ron and I were on 6.0 to 5.0 meter sails. It was so warm I sailed in a rash guard only - no wetsuit. The wind blew until sunset, but we didn't last that long. We took photos & will show them on the HDTV in the morning.
