One Big Whimp

Gene called me yesterday and told me it was blowing and there were white caps everywhere. I had been checking Gilmer and it was blowing a nice 15-20. But I told Gene no because that water is just too dern cold. I hate to be a whimp but I just cannot take that cold water and I am not as good as the rest of you who can sail and never fall in. I tried to get a dry suite but that didn't work. If I could just learn how to sail and not fall in. Maybe that could be a new FreeStyle move. Well, I do have dirt bikes to fall back up on when it's cold.

Sorry Gene. I hope you didn't sail alone. Wish I was there.

It wasnt my one of my better days. There were other sailors, Tim C, Chris P, Kristin & Nick, It looked like sunday where there was a pertty big wind shadow but looked like there was wind if you could get to it, but hard to decide what to rig. Long story short, rigged my 5.9, left my wetsuit home, finally got on the water and took forever to get to the wind line, and it was shutting down, and when it did blow it was short strong gusts. I did get a couple of 2 or 3 second runs. I do think the other sailors did get some decent wind before I finally made it out.

There will be other days.

Peelskid,
Log in, dude; your post count is suffering.

Hey, you might want to try a dry suit. I hear they are a bit warmer than dry suites (or dining room suites, executive suites, etc.) Dirol

After my warm sesh at Charleston last Sunday, the thermometer wasn't climbing fast enough to tempt me up to the lake. I'm getting spoiled in my old age.

Thursday

It was blowing, air was warm, and I was the first person to arrive, which is unusual. It was pretty out on the water, and Tim & I had a fun session for about an hour before ity started getting flukey. The water is chilly - maybe low 50s - but I managed to basically stay dry. It was good.

Chris,
Distilling your post:

It was blowing... it was good. One could insert just about anything (barring true tragedy) in the middle and it would still hold true. Glad you were able to enjoy it and report back to the rest of us so we could enjoy the day vicariously. Hope you get a chance to sail this weekend.
