RS:Xs were on one of the offshore courses with big swell and more consistent wind yesterday. Farah Hall found her groove and got an 8th. She's in 15th place after 9 races. Pedro is in 9th overall. The top 10 after 12 races compete in the medal races.

Olympic Lesson #2021: IT'S NOT OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER! What a finish to the Olympic regatta: The women nearly finished in a three-way tie at the top, with the medals decided by tie-breakers, but a late surge by Yunxiu Lu (CHN) saved her gold medal. Had she finished in 4th instead of 3rd in the medal race, gold would have been bronze. But that was nothing compared to the drama in the men's medal race! Everyone was hoping that Kiran Badloe (NED) wouldn't OCS and throw away his gold medal. He didn't (phew!) but three other medal contenders did (!), and by the time all was said and done, Thomas Goyard (FRA) had done enough earlier in the week to save his silver medal by 1 point, and Mattia Camboni (ITA), who was one of the over earlies in the medal race, lost his bronze by 1 point to Kun Bi (CHN). The position changes, the late OCS calls, the high stakes - all of that drama unfolded in slow motion in the very light conditions. What a swan song for the International RS:X Olympic Windsurfing Class Association!
Big kudos to Pedro Pascual Suitt (USA) who took part in the medal race today and finished 9th overall - the best finish by an American windsurfer, male or female, in 20 years! And to Farrah Hall (USA) who raced the best regatta of her life and finished the week in 15th position. Inspiring stuff, both of you!!
