New sailor

Hi Smile
I have recently moved in to Atlanta area. I used to sail in SE of Brazil (Sao Paulo) so, I am looking forward to being on the water again. Anyone can tell what sails are most used in Lanier conditions and where to get a good deal as i left behind all my stuffs.

Thanks!

Renato

...and also check out http://www.whitecapwindsurfing.com/ from where you can browse a photo catalog -- thumbnailed, priced, and captioned for each item -- of my inventory. Wet wear and excess inventory/close-out specials, also. I'm 2 hours east of Atlanta. 6th year of serving the windsurfers in the region.

Renato,

Sailors here use a wide range of sails. I don't know how windy it is in Brazil, but I would imagine its different here. We usually sail shortboards in winds requiring sails from 5.0 to 8.5. (True there are a few of us that go to 9-10 or even more). The good news is that since this is not a big windsurfing area, used equipement can be pretty low in price. The shops listed above and the club web page list lots of used equipment, so you shouldn't have trouble finding what you need.

One thing is for sure - you need cold weather suits, preferably a dry suit. (I've never been to Brazil, but my guess is that its a lot warmer there.) Good luck and have fun.

The best way to get into the local scene is to go to Van Pugh park for west or northwest winds (go to the North park) on a windy day. You will probably seea several of us out there. Also, the club has monthly meetings where you can meet a number of the locals.

Renato, Gene, Chuck et al.:

OR... http://www.locuswind.com
For your wet gear... no windsurfing gear tough.

I am carrying OceanRodeo Brand. They have a great Dry suit line. Please check http://www.oceanrodeo.com and look for the dry suits. I do not have any on stock yet, but can order for you. I am planing on buying one for the store and have it available for rental. Guess what size the rental one will be, off course, one that fits me well, probably an XL.

If interested do not hesitate to contact LocusWind at 404 509 4229

Um abraço
Emilio
