Excellent session yesterday -- Monday -- at Scott's Ferry at Clarks Hill Lake over here near Augusta. Just little ole' me, all alone, no one to play with. But it was great to ride the Diamond Highway again, heading right into that low, bright sun. Started on 5.3/83 liter but that wasn't enough. Rigged up to 5.9/114liter. That was better. When it filled all the way in about 6pm - well, mostly all the way -- it was back to full-on 5.3 to sundown. There's a great area on the downwind side of the red clay exposed area that is smooth as butter. It was about a 3 hour sesh. I did nothing but 2 to 300 yard runs out and back and worked hard on improving transitions -- I was inspired reading Gene's reports about working on the jibes around the marker at OBX. My hands actually got inflamed and swollen. You gotta love it!
At Van Pugh Park on Lake Lanier we had about a dozen windsurfers. I started on a 5.9m sail & 100 liter freestyle/wave board, then downsized to a 5.2m & 84 liter board. Conditions through mid-afternoon were very gusty. At first I rigged a little overpowered with the 5.9 to make it through the lulls. By late afternoon the wind picked up a little more and became smoother, so I rigged the 5.2 sail. Six windsurfers showed up again this afternoon for an encore performance. Two days in a row !!!
Big wind, chilly air, warm water - sounds good. I plan on sailing at Van Pugh Monday afternoon.
