Misc (not gear related)

Today's New York Times had a big article in their travel section about Hood River, "Enough Space for Me and My Sailboard". It was about houses being built with extra storage space for windsurfing gear and other sports equipment. This is the same paper that had an article on "Buff Wetsuits" awhile back. Who said Windsurfing has been canceled? Speaking of Kiting, why did the kiter cross the road? like he had a choice. Just kidding.

A question for everyone, would any windsurfers, kiters or regular sailors be willing to pay $99 a year for an IWindsurf membership IF they had a meter at Lake Lanier? I talked to one of their guys yesterday, not that they're really planning on putting a sensor at Lanier, but I was just wondering. They do have sensors at St Simon and Jekyll Island and I think we have more windsurfers than either of these places. But we do have Gilmmers wind line that is free: 770-532-4687. So????

Also, it's now Hurricane season, I've actually heard the word "Tropical" on the Local TV weather reports, AND the High pressure which has kept our wind coming out of the east for the last few weeks is finally moving, so fronts can come thru. Who knows, maybe we may get some wind even though it is now June.

Gene,

Why use Iwindsurf.com, or even Gainseville? I get great wind reports for free from calling 770-967-0104. I mean, doesn't everybody use that number???

Gene,
I'd be more willing to pay you $99 a year to drive down the road every once in a while and give it a look.

btw, loved the joke...

Does LLSC have storage facilities for windsurfers for its members?

I already have an IWindsurf account that I use at Nags Head & for travel. I find the service to be worth the annual fee. A wind sensor on the water at Lanier would be great!

Members can rent a "dry slip" at LLSC and put whatever you want on it (on a trailer). I think it's around $350/yr.

What's involved in setting up a beach-cam? That would the ultimate- perhaps off the point at Aqualand looing toward VP with an on-screen graphic showing wind direction & speed, air & water temps, etc. Oh, and of course with a user-controlled servo to re-aim the camera. I bet hundreds of the big boat sailors would contribute to that cause.

While we're at it, how about a hot tub for those frigid February sessions...
