Mid Winters Camping ROAD TRIP, 3/5-8

Calema's Mid-Winters Windsurfing Regatta in Cocoa Beach is March 5 - 8. I'm planning on camping at Jetty Park Campground right up the road. I'll probably head down Wed or Thurs and come back on Monday. Camping is $35 a site, with only one tent per site, 6 people max and up to 2 vehicles. I'm open to possibly sharing a site, but probably not sharing the ride as I hope to visit my cousin on the way down or back.

I'm just going to hang out, windsurf and maybe kite. I will not be racing and probably will not get the meal plan. In the past it's been alot of fun, especially if there's wind and if there is a bunch of us. Sooooo, how about it? Road Trip!

The space shuttle Discovery was scheduled to go off on Feb 12 but it was delayed.

Is there a chance that it could go off during the mid winters?

When I go I will be taking a Hobie 14 Turbo for a little fun transportation and a platform to watch the races.

Christopher & I are plotting to make it this time– maybe me racing, but more likely a hobie/ learn to WS/ spectate/ adventure thing. We won't get down there until late friday.

It looks like the STS launch has been delayed for an unspecified length of time. Maybe we'll get lucky and catch one. All the possible launch windows during that week are at night. The pix of those look pretty dramatic.

Shuttle Launch could be on Saturday, March 7th (Weekend of Mid-winters).

The Lost Boys of Charleston are going. And Kurt Shoemaker (anybody remember "Skeletor"?). It looks like the shuttle won't go until later.

I'm going down for the Midwinters scene, too. Danny Johnson as well. Hope to see you guys on the water down there!

I've decided NOT to go to the Mid-Winters.

I may make a Florida roadtrip the week of March 23-28 when my old roomie and Kiter Jerry Farr will be down there.

Also, the Atlanta forecast for this weekend is warm and a chance of some wind (big sails) on Friday and Sunday. Maybe we should all go check out Randy's (and William's) new launch, Mountian View Park, if the wind direction is right.
