Lanier today

I haven't made it out in a while so I am going to venture out for an early afternoon longboard run at Van Pugh. While Van Pugh isn't the best site to sail with Easterlies, I have sailed VP in the past and had a good session. I noticed that our places to sail link gives West Bank a good E rating. Has anyone sailed there recently?

West Bank isn't a first choice for two reasons:

1) No trailers allowed - many of us schlep our gear behind, not on top.
2) There is a bit of a shadow in getting out. Tidwell and Vanns for example, pretty much stick straight out into the water.

West Bank can also be more crowded than other spots because of its proximity to Cumming and Atlanta.

The times we've launched there en masse is when we used to do a dam/bridge sail.

I pretty much second webguy. I've sailed there a number of times, and a few have been good. Basically, its a place to go when looking for someplace different to sail from. It would not be a bad place for longboarding, but in the summer (on a weekend) its one of the most crowded spots on the lake. If the wind is from the east, Tidwell, Van Pugh and Vann's Tavern are all better.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
