It was so sweet day before yesterday, Wed. 19th, at Thurmond. I've seen many a higher wind, more epic fall cold front blow through but rarely 3 hours of such steady filled in 5.8 wind like we had. All of the 8 folks out felt the same. The most pure windsurfing fun and joy I've seen at the lake in a fortnight (whatever that is). A couple of us sailed 45 minutes past sundown -- nearly overpowered -- screaming. No moon, but Venus finally poked a brilliant diamond hole through the pale western sky beckoning us to stay all night. Once I could no longer see my harness lines clearly swing into the hook, we called it a day.
We have a fantastic launch site here for cold front riding. All issues covered: parking, bathrooms, lights, rigging, 20 steps to the water on our own "windsurfers" ramp thanks to the COE. Absolutley PERFECT wind exposure. Hope some of you ABCers can make it over here sometime on a strong forecast.
