June Bonaire Trip Details

OK - Here's the lowdown:

Dates: Thursday, June 7, til Saturday, June 16, 2007
Location: Belmar Oceanfront
Flights: AirJamaica - $558.20
Hotel/truck/diving: $694.98*

I just checked online and the airfare is cheaper to fly into Curaco on Thursday (June 7), take Divi Divi island hopper over to Bonaire ($43 and pay at the ticket counter), then fly out of Bonaire on Saturday, June 16. (The fare to fly Sat/Sat into and out of Bonaire was $638. )

*This price is based on 6 people in a 3-bedroom. Deduct $100 from the price if you don't dive.

If you decide to go, I highly suggest using Andy Repetto at Bonairepros.com because he'll do all the work for you and possibly get you a better price on the airfare. But please tell him I sent you so he'll know you're with our group and hopefully we can get condos next to one another.

As for the windsurfing (what we're going for in the first place!), I suggest just waiting til you get there and paying for whatever days you use. Elvis and Roger at The Windsurf Place will let you use the weekly rate at the end - you don't have to sign up for it ahead of time.

Also, if we get 6 of you signed up, we'll all get a free bar-be-que dinner compliments of Belmar!

If you have any further questions, please email me at

.

I just booked lodging and airfare for Bonaire for me and Drew. Yes, Drew is going. AirFare was $563 R/T for June 9 to 16. Drew is excited. This will be the first time he has been out of the country. He already has a passport.

Chris, I have been watching the air fares for a while now. They started out great at $484 then jumped to $879 then to $658 and then I happened to take a look at Expedia and found the $563. When I saw that I took it.

Yes that is Air Jamaica. I suggest that you keep looking at Expedia and Travelolicity about twice a day until you find what you want. I do not believe lodging will be your problem. Plenty of places to stay and it is a very confined area where all lodging is so all of us will be somewhat close to one another.

I just got another quote from Bonaire Pros and this is it if you want to call him.

hi david -- i can confirm 2 tkts with tax at $681.20 per person on air jamaica (must be purchased feb 12) ... here is the schedule:

JM 67 16JUN BONMBJ 310P 405P

Well, the problem is that Air Jamaica only flies to Bonaire on Saturday. If that flight is booked (we have a group of 5), we are SOL. There are ways to get to the island, but they require multiple stops and plane changes (plus a ride on prop plane). No way I am doing that with a 4 year old!

I guess we will being going a different week.

That hop on the prop will be the best part for a 4 y.o.!
If it's from Curacao, it can't be more than 20 min, & what- 45 from Caracas?
We took a 2 y.o. from Atlanta to Alaska... it wasn't always pretty, but it was still fun (for him and us).

Ms. Adventure -- my wife and I flew to Bonaire on our honeymoon going atlanta -- miami -- curaco -- bonaire. Its not the fact that you have to get on a prop plane, but that there three freaking plane changes. It wore us out, making a 4 1/2 direct flight into a 10 hour travel day. Nope, I don't want to do that with a 4 year old if I don't have to.
