I talked with the ranger today

I have been talking to the Corps rangers a lot lately because I am transferring ownership of a dock. I know that in the past when we get a lot of rain they have closed beaches due to E Coli.
I mentioned that to the ranger. He said that this was only a problem where the geese tend to graze. Grassy areas that are near beaches. Van Pugh came to mind. He said it was not due to fertilizer nor chickens.

I thought I would pass that along since we sail out of Van Pugh and we have geese turds all over the place in the grassy areas.

Conclusion: Not ok at the launch site but ok in the middle of the lake. So that means you better make it back to the shore each time and not fall at the wind line and swim your rig in.

It seems like Swine Flu would be enough to worry about.

I'm not that concerned about E Coli bacteria at Van Pugh from geese. The greatest concern of infection comes from human disease-causing, or pathogenic bacteria, but these organisms are very expensive and time-consuming to detect in water. E Coli are used as an indicator of bacterial contamination in water because they are easy to measure. The bacteria are present in the gut of all animals. However, it would be a good idea to stay away from storm water discharges where bacteria directly enter the Lake.

At least now we don't have to worry about the draught, and the alligator in he lake.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
