I got a little buzz today

I went to one of my favorite paddling spots today and the main parking lot was full so I went to the overflow lot which is located right under some High Tension power lines. I did my paddle then went to put the ski back on the roof rack and when I touched the metal on my roof and the boat I got a bit of a shock. Turns out this is very common, It’s known as induced voltage and can create a charge of up to 10,000 Volts in larger RV’s but very low current so it’s not dangerous just very annoying.

I was hoping for pics of a haircut.

If you want to recreate the experience, almost any good livestock fence will do.

Tesla, the engineering genius the car Co. Is named after, spent the later part of his career trying to distribute electricity wirelessly through the air. As Downhaul experienced, this is being done today along all high-voltage transmission lines. If you ever want to see this effect for yourself, bring a fluorescent bulb and hold it parallel to nearby high-voltage power lines and it will light up.
