I'm the pterodactyl on the island - still windsurfing. I had a 12M Crossbow, but my son took it away from me - says I'm too old or something like that. Anyway, the locals typically have a high wind (7 to 9 M), a midrange around 12M and a lightwind (16-18M). Most are sailing wakestyle boards but pull out the directionals when the winds are light or when the surf is big. If you're aiming for a one-kite quiver, I'd recommend a 14 to 16 M. Let me know when you get here and I'll introduce you to crew. You're gonna love the sailing here . . . and the lifestyle in general.

Hey Alan, thanks for the info about your friends gear. i flew the liquid force havoc a few weeks ago and really liked it so im probably gonna pick up one of those. and thin'air thanks a lot for the information! thats perfect too because my favorite kite is my 14m naish torch 2. so it looks like ill get to use it alot. I guess ill pick up a smaller kite for the stronger days. and yes ill definetly keep in touch and take that offer to introduce me to everyone. Id like to find out where the local kite beaches are from the locals because i know hilton head is kind of strict on kiting in some areas. thanks again!

Just back from a week in HHI. Not much wind so I never went in the water. Had one good landboarding session on South Beach and met another HHI Kiter, Chad Golden, who lives in Sea Pines. Let me know if you want his number.

Yup - lite winds for the past week. I sailed Christmas day but nothing since. Monday and tuesday look promising. Don't know Chad - but send along his number and I'll get in touch.
