Hatteras reports

I had a real good session this morning on my 5.2 and the Wild Board, VERY WINDY, very nice. Then after lunch made a few passes on the 5.2 way overpowered. Then rigged my 3.8, and was blown off the water. It was VERY WINDY. Started to rig my 3.0, but didnt, tired, stormy, very rainy, etc. Forecast is excellent for the next 2 days. http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/AM/135.html

I saw Chris & Elizabeth on the water, and talked to Randy up in Nags Head. I'm sure everyone had a big time.

It was VERY WINDY!

We had a good day in Nags Head as well. Randy and Eric braved the storm this morning and afternoon in their 5.0 and 4.5. Barrett and I joined them later on the afternoon. It was pretty windy here as well. At the end of the day we were all very overpowered. Randy was on his 3.7, Barrett and Eric on a 4.5, and I was sailing a very very flat 4.5.

Wild day and crazy night! Our wind-meter hit 68 last night around 2:00AM -- it sounded like freight train going through house.

Here is a view from our deck this morning (its hard to tell, but its blowing a steady 40 with gusts to 50) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmqNMWZR-Z0

Dang, its back up to 50-60 again today. I saw someone doing OK on a 2.7, but I see big guys floundering on 3.7s.

Gene -- were you out there today? I thought I saw you out there on a tiny Aerotech...

I finally got up the nerve mid-day to give it a try. I got about an hour or two of 3.2. I thought I was going to hammered, but I actually was pretty dialed in. It was still survival sailing though...

Reporting from Nags Head, the wind is so strong our house on the water is shaking in the gusts. Eric sailed this afternoon on a 3.4 meter and I rigged my smallest sail, a 3.7m. It was survival sailing. Albert and Randy went shopping for impact jackets. Tomorrow we hope the wind will drop.

Chris, that was me on the small aerotech (3.0), didnt do much, I think it had slacked off for a while and I didnt have enough. Later we did all go out for a good afternoon session on 4.0's, it was windy and wild.

Your sail looked ridiculously small Gene. I honestly thought it was a something like a 2.0!

Chris, The sail said it's a 3.0 but did feel real small. Since I'd been blown off the water the previous day on a 3.8, I thought the 3.0 would be the call, but ... We did have a real good 4.0 session in the afternoon. AND it's still cranking this morning.

And Trey, I REALLY do LOVE this place, thanks for reminding me.

Had a nice 5.2 afternoon session, had to go on the bigger (104 liter) board, very nice. Now things have calmed way down, it might be time to try to figure out the Kites, may wait until tomorrow. And I do love this place.

We had a nice day in Nags Head as well. Randy got out early on a 3.7m followed by Albert on a 4.5m. Eric & I had steady wind sailing 5.2's from 10:30AM until 1PM. Randy went back out after lunch and the wind shut down so we went for beach walk and enjoyed the sunset before dinner.

I'm almost wishing I'd made the long drive to sail with you folks. Saw Barrett's pics and have read all about the fun and games on the small rigs. Sounds awasome. Good for Albert to get to th Banks and for Trey to finally find some conditions that suit his equipment ! Pretty decent on the SC coast all week. Six straight days since last Sunday which was insane - 30 knots with peak gusts of 50 and 8 to 10 foot breakers as far out as you wanted to go. As usual, sailed by myself. A couple of kiters came out and rigged but never launched. Can't say I blamed them cause it got to be REAL survival conditions. I got spanked and humbled but didn't break any toys. Glad to get a 6.5 day Friday to heal. Have fun!!! peace s, tc

Tim - Sorry you weren't able to join us on the Outer Banks, but glad you got out in SC for some awesome conditions.
